Description

Our new Smart Squares are the only court targets that teach about tennis and life!

Smart Squares can be used in a large variety of situations. The 6 rainbow colors of each set are printed with motivational words on one side and are blank on the other. They are 12 inches in diameter and durable like our other court shapes.  One side has a slip-resistance grip pattern molded into the surface.

See detailed instructions above for creative ideas on how Smart Squares can improve any sports program.

Use shapes for targeting, home positions, and movement drills -

Inspire with messages in sports to enhance character education -
NOT a new idea.
Combine shapes and motivational words - NEW IDEA!

Smart Squares are a new training tool concept to make players smarter about both tennis and life. This idea is based on a recent study at Stanford University:

92% of the reason a person succeeds or fails is determined by ATTITUDE.

75% of the reason a person learns or fails to learn is based on ATTITUDE.

85% of the reason a person gets or keeps a job and advances is based on ATTITUDE.

I use these squares with many of my players by asking them to put them in the correct order. Players often have different orders and they immediately engage each other as to why their order is the correct one. Eventually I reveal that there is no correct order, but the time they spend thinking about these principles can change your students forever. I also use these squares when my players play points and tiebreakers against each other. I ask them to assess which principles they used or should have used when playing the breakers. Common comments from my students include, "I did not Respect my opponents strengths", "I need to Respect the percentages when playing certain shots", "I must Compete tougher regardless of who is controlling the match" " I've got to work on hitting my shots with Belief" "I must Dream that I have won the match before it is played, so that I can Focus and Excel in the tough moments of the match."

I love the Oncourt Offcourt Smart Spots! Not only are they a fresh alternative to plain cones or donuts for target practice but more importantly they allow me to help my junior players learn life lessons through water-break discussions about the messages.
